About:

The site is dedicated to Texas music of any stripe.

We're fans of undiscovered, struggling artists, working their way along and paying their dues. We're also fans of people who have paid their dues, but for one reason or another have never gained admission to major label stardom. In a word or two, we like Texas music and Texas musicians.

Welcome Back Cotter! Welcome Back! Welcome Back! Welcome Back!

What is it about music and people and love…? As a musician, I used to be a real asshole on this subject. As a writer and photographer, I am somehow different. Maybe it’s because I want everyone I shoot to look great, but maybe the difference gets to the heart of the matter….

I have been seriously AWOL lately from this blog. For that I would like to say I was busy. I am not sorry at all, as I was looking into the proverbial rabbit hole seeing just how far it could take me. What I found made me want to come back here and write. What I found made me want to have a voice. What I found made me realize that I do still have an ego, and that it is not unfounded.

A little background… I have been shooting national shows that I thought did not really reflect the Texas music scene. Recently I realized that all of the music in Texas, whether brought here on national tour or painstakingly brought fourth out of the streets of this lovely music loving state is all about the people that listen to music and seek it out. I wanted to begin to share some of the gold I have found.

So please look forward to some tasty back log of stuff that I should have been writing about all along.

I would also like to echo John Wilson’s post about ACL. These folks have forgotten their audience. It would seem that all they are interested in is their ticket sales. That they are sold out suggests something different. After failing to get into the show with my good friends at Your Texas Music, I sought an international route. Even the publishers of Guitar Edge Magazine have been shot down for press passes. This is pure corporate bullshit of the highest order. And so We will not be bringing you news or photos of the festival. I have been able to get into some parties that promise to make great photos though.

So I say that this is my re-entrance into the Your Texas Music fold. Enjoy photos from the shows.

Next I will be bringing you news of the Austin Hot Sauce festival and My friend Bobby Whitlock.

Grease Traps & Rejected Hairballs

Hello, From the Far Side of the Muse -
Muse facts and locales follow below for the Houston metro area and points west, where the gulf coast planar surfaces roll and then flex and the rivers, lakes and streams have been declining like leaky tubs since the enriching wet year of 2007, when my double-bladed paddle was moist and making lots of figure 8’s.
Reminds me of a poem, Soulitude, that Duke Ross wrote that included these lines:
….. Paddling tranquil Ozark and Hill Country streams,
Sailing atop spring-fed pools and reflective dreams of …..
I’m still working on finding some inspiration and stop-gap intelligence for some more extended e-comm rambles that have plagued the planet like grease traps and rejected hairballs.  When I do, you know I’ll be sure and throw the rock against your window - again.
